The first look of Allu Arjun’s upcoming film Raaka—being made in collaboration with director Atlee—was released on April 8th, coinciding with his birthday. In the movie, Allu Arjun is set to appear in a completely distinct avatar—one unlike anything seen before.
Allu Arjun Spotted in a Dark Look
In the poster, Arjun appears bald, with thick, dark kohl (kajal) lining his eyes. Staring intently into the camera, he conceals half of his face behind a claw-like, animalistic hand. Meanwhile, reports are now emerging that Raaka shares a special connection with Pushpa—a decision the filmmakers made quite deliberately. Just as the name “Pushpa” became a nationwide craze, a similar buzz is now being generated around this new character. The enigmatic poster and dark aesthetic have only heightened the anticipation among fans.
According to a report by HT, a close source revealed, “The filmmakers intentionally decided to name the film after Allu Arjun’s titular character, given the tremendous success achieved by the Pushpa franchise.”
What is the Filmmakers’ Plan?
The source further explained, “Considering the immense success of the Pushpa franchise, the producers of Raaka made a calculated decision to title the film after Allu Arjun’s lead character.” The source asserted that the actor has effectively made his character the very identity of the film. Consequently—much like Pushpa—Raaka is poised to emerge as something far greater than just a name. When Pushpa was released, it created a nationwide sensation; the filmmakers are now attempting to recreate that same magic through Raaka.
Allu Arjun is one of the most popular stars in Telugu cinema, known for hit films such as Arya, Race Gurram, Sarrainodu, and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. He achieved his greatest success with Pushpa: The Rise, which proved to be a massive hit across India and catapulted him to pan-Indian stardom.
Was Pushpa a Blockbuster? Directed by Sukumar, this film starred Allu Arjun in the role of Pushpa Raj and became a box office sensation, grossing over ₹350–370 crore worldwide. The film’s immense success not only established it as one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of its time but also solidified the franchise’s popularity ahead of its sequel.
