Home Secretary holds review meeting on the security situation in Kashmir, issue of terrorist funding from drug smuggling raised

Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla reviewed the security situation in the Valley after the terrorist organization released a list of 56 Kashmiri Pandit employees. The review meeting was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs as well as key officials of IB, RAW, and other central security forces. While senior officials of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the meeting through video conferencing.

 

Discussion on the list of Kashmiri Pandits

Although the Ministry of Home Affairs is calling it a routine monthly meeting, according to sources, the list of 56 Kashmiri Pandit employees released by the terrorist organization The Resistance Front was discussed in detail. Dar Resistance Front is the front organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Senior officials of Jammu and Kashmir said that terrorist activities are at the lowest level in the valley and recruitment of new terrorists has completely stopped in many districts. In such a situation, terrorist organizations issue such a list to come in the headlines. Before this, the terrorist organization also released a list of journalists in the same way. But the Union Home Secretary directed the state administration to make adequate arrangements for the security of the Kashmiri Pandit employees.

 

Discussion on the supply of arms to terrorists

In the meeting, along with the infiltration of foreign terrorists in the valley, the situation of the supply of arms and funds was also discussed. Senior officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Police said infiltration across the Line of Control in the Valley has been controlled to a large extent. Some terrorists are infiltrating the international border of Jammu. Along with this, the arrival of some terrorists through Nepal has also been confirmed. But the biggest problem is the funding of terrorist organizations. Funding through hawala has been stopped, but cases of money being sent to terrorist organizations through drug smuggling are coming to the fore in Punjab. For this, there was a need to intensify vigilance on the border in Punjab and curb drug supply through drones.
