Engineering students of IIT Madras received a record 1,199 job offers this year. 231 students had also received pre-placement offers, adding up to 1,430 job offers. Of these, one student was offered the highest salary of Rs 1.99 crore. The average salary stood at Rs 21.5 lakh. 80 percent of the students registered for placements got jobs.
The previous record for highest offers was set in 2018-19 with 1,151 offers. This time a total of 380 companies offered these jobs in two phases. Of these, 14 international companies made 45 offers. Similarly, 199 offers were made by 131 startups. All 61 students of the Management Studies department of the institute also got jobs. Institute's placement advisor Prof. CS Shankar Ram said that the students performed brilliantly, hence these records were made.

Japanese company Rakuten Mobile made the most of 11 offers.
The core engineering and technology sector provided 41 percent of the jobs.
This was followed by 17 percent offers from data science and analytics, IT, and software sectors.
Most offers were given by EXL Service, Ola Mobility, EY India, American Express, Microsoft India, IQVIA, L&T, Qualcomm, and Kotak Mahindra.
Major international companies include Gleen, Micron Technologies, Honda R&D, Cohesity, Da Vinci Derivatives, Accenture Japan, and Money Forward.
