IND vs ENG: Team India may be announced today for the last three tests against England, doubt on Virat's return

The second match of the Test series between India and England is to start on February 2. Before this, the Indian team can be announced for the last three matches of the series. The selectors can sit today to select the Indian team. India has already trailed 0-1 in the series after losing the Hyderabad Test by 28 runs. Therefore, there will be pressure on the home team led by Rohit Sharma to make a comeback.

Lokesh Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ravindra Jadeja batted well for India in the first innings of the first Test, but all three players missed a century. Two of these players, Rahul and Jadeja, have been ruled out of the second match due to injury. For this reason, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, and Saurabh Kumar have been included in Team India for the second match. The second Test will be played at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

Sarfaraz and Saurabh have been selected for the Indian team for the first time. Both of them performed well for India A in the two-match unofficial Test series against England Lions. Sundar, on the other hand, made a comeback after last playing Test cricket in 2021.

Will Virat Kohli make a comeback?

Virat Kohli's return remains one of the most talked about topics ahead of the last three Tests. Earlier, Kohli had pulled out of the first two matches in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam citing 'personal reasons'. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement revealing the developments related to Kohli. After this, 30-year-old Rajat Patidar was replaced in the team, although he did not get a chance to debut in the Hyderabad Test. After the selectors' meeting, it will be known whether Kohli will play in the last three matches of the five-match series or not.

At present, there is no confirmation about Kohli playing in the remaining matches of the series. Questions are also being raised about Shubman Gill's position in the Indian team, but it is unlikely that he will be dropped. Cheteshwar Pujara is in the race to make a comeback in the Indian team. Mohammed Shami is unlikely to be selected as he is currently in London. The last three Tests will be played in Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamshala.
