The love story of Eden Gardens and Rohit Sharma had started when Rohit was in the early stages of his career. This love story continues even today and this is the reason why Rohit has made a special world record of this ground in the first T20 International match against the West Indies. Rohit had already recorded the most T20 International runs on this ground, but now he has become the first batsman in the world, who has scored more than 100 T20 International runs on this ground. Rohit made this special record during his innings of 40 runs in 19 balls against the West Indies.

Before this match, 72 runs were recorded in Rohit's account on this ground, while 70 runs were recorded in Virat Kohli's account. Both of them needed 28 and 30 runs in the order to cross the 100-run mark at this ground, but Rohit overtook Virat and registered this feat first. Rohit has played four T20 Internationals at this ground and has scored 112 runs at a stunning strike rate of 167 and an average of 28.
