Meanwhile, India has once again extended a helping hand to Sri Lanka. India has announced a grant of Rs 3800 crore to Sri Lanka for oil purchases.

Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister GL Peiris said that on our request for help, India has announced financial assistance. Peiris says that the World Bank has also assured Sri Lanka of help, but it may take up to 6 months. Meanwhile, China has rejected the request to ease the loan installments to Sri Lanka, which is buried by China's debt of 27 thousand crore rupees.
