Vijayakanth, former leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, was admitted to the hospital after complaining of breathing problems and was put on ventilator support.

DMDK had given this information through a post on its official handle on Twitter. Earlier, in November, Vijayakanth was admitted to MIOT Hospital in Chennai after his health deteriorated. He remained under the observation of doctors for 14 days due to cough and throat pain.
