IPL Auction 2022: Why did Suresh Raina remain unsold? Sunil Gavaskar says

Veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has said that he was surprised to see Suresh Raina go unsold in the mega auction of the Indian Premier League 2022 (IPL 2022). Also, he told why no franchise bought this cricketer, who played a brilliant cricketer in the league. Despite being the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL playing 205 matches and the leading run-scorer of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), no one bid for Raina with a base price of 20 million. After this, his name did not appear during the accelerated auction. People are very surprised by this.

Meanwhile, Gavaskar said during a conversation with Sports Tak that Amit Mishra had hardly played any matches in the last season, so he was not surprised to be unsold, but he felt that Raina should have been picked. He said, \'It is not so surprising for Amit Mishra as he hardly got to play any match last year. And it was clear that his bowling no longer had that edge and the fielding was also poor. Being a good fielder is essential in today\'s times as you need to save the singles as well. So maybe this is the reason why Amit Mishra was not picked by any franchise.

Gavaskar further said, \'I was surprised for Raina. He is a left-handed batsman. They Bowls off-spin and is experienced. The pitches in Dubai had a lot of bounce last season. There he looked a bit intimidated and that\'s why I think the teams must have felt that India would also have fast bowlers. This could be one of the reasons for not select him, but only franchisees can tell us why they had this in their mind about him?\'
