A four-day ceasefire has been agreed to in the 46-day-long Israel-Hamas war. Under the agreement, the extremist organization Hamas will release 50 women and children among those abducted and held hostage on October 7, in exchange for Israel releasing 150 Palestinian women and children in its prisons. No prisoner accused of murder will be released from an Israeli jail.

Worldwide happiness over the ceasefire agreement

This exchange of hostages and prisoners will take place during the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. However, before the ceasefire came into force, fierce attacks by Israeli forces in Gaza and their resistance by Hamas continued. The entire world, including India, has expressed happiness over the ceasefire agreement brokered by Qatar at the insistence of US President Joe Biden.

This will save the lives of innocent people being killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza, as well as reduce the difficulties in the lives of the 23 lakh population there. With this, it will be possible to release Palestinian women and children who have been in Israeli jails for minor crimes for months and years. In return, it will be possible for Israeli citizens who have been held hostage by Hamas for one and a half months to return home.

50 Israeli hostages will be released in four days

The Israeli government has said that the release of 50 Israeli hostages will take place within four days of the ceasefire. After this, every day ten Israeli hostages are released, and the ceasefire will increase by one day. The ceasefire will extend for the number of days that Hamas releases ten hostages. It is believed that 240 people kidnapped from Israel on October 7 are currently hostages of Hamas. Of the abducted people, five women have been released by Hamas so far while two women have died.

After six hours of deliberations and approval from the Israeli Cabinet on Wednesday morning, the agreement was also approved by Parliament. The ceasefire is expected to come into effect from Thursday morning after some formalities. After that, the fighting between the Israeli army and Hamas fighters in Gaza will stop and the process of release of hostages and prisoners will begin.

More than three thousand people were arrested from the West Bank

The Israeli government's statement regarding the agreement does not mention the number of Palestinian prisoners to be released, but sources say that 150 to 300 Palestinian prisoners may be released. A large number of these may be Palestinians arrested from the West Bank. Since October 7, Israeli security forces have arrested more than three thousand people from the West Bank located near the Gaza Strip.

The drone will fly for six hours

During the ceasefire, Israeli fighter planes and drones will not fly in the skies of southern Gaza, while drones will fly in the skies of northern Gaza for six hours a day. One of the two objectives stated by the Israeli government for the war in Gaza is the safe return of civilians abducted by Hamas to their homes.

The government has also made it clear about the second objective that it stands by its declaration of destruction of Hamas. That objective will be accomplished after the ceasefire. On October 7, 1,200 people were killed in Hamas attacks on Israeli cities, while about 14,000 Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing Israeli military action since then.

Israeli action on another hospital, four dead

The Israeli army has taken action on Al Awda Hospital in Gaza. Three doctors and an attendant are reported to have been killed in this attack. The Israeli army has not expressed any reaction to this action. Six Palestinians have been killed in the crackdown on the Tulkarm refugee camp in the West Bank. This action was taken after violence broke out in protest against the security forces conducting searches there.
