Jammu and Kashmir poll observer dies in Tripura

Agartala, March 19 (IANS) Pratapaditya Datta, an IAS officer of the 2010 Tripura-Manipur cadre and an election observer for Jammu and Kashmir, died here Wednesday following cardiac arrest, an official said.

He was 50 and is survived by his wife and a child.

"Datta, registrar of co-operatives under the Tripura government, felt uneasy and complained of giddiness while working in office. He was immediately shifted to Agartala Government Medical College and Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital, where he breathed his last," a Tripura government official told reporters.

He twice visited the Udhampur Lok Sabha seat in Jammu and Kashmir as a poll observer.
