The fire in a six-story building in Kuwait spread so fast that people did not even get a chance to save their lives. Kuwait Times quoted firefighters as saying that the fire broke out suddenly due to a cylinder explosion in the kitchen on the ground floor of the building at around 6 am on Wednesday. Lieutenant Colonel Ali of Kuwait Fire Department told an Indian media group, there were more than 160 workers in the building and most of them were Indians. Some Pakistani and Bangladeshi workers have also been confirmed to be there. All of them worked for the same company. Ali said the fire spread very fast. The workers did not get a chance to get out. Many people were evacuated through emergency services. More than 30 people are injured in the accident.
Kuwait Home Minister Sheikh Fahad said, what happened is the result of the greed of the company and the building owners. He asked the Kuwait Municipality and local public authority to take immediate action in the matter of cramming workers like animals in the buildings. He was also instructed to implement all safety requirements to prevent such incidents.
