Milk Price Hike: Milk of Amul and Mother Dairy becomes expensive, new rates apply from today

Posted on 17th Aug 2022 03:32 pm by rohit kumar

The Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation has increased the prices of Amul milk by Rs 2 per liter. Along with this, Mother Dairy has also increased the prices of milk. The new rates will be applicable from today (August 17, 2022).

This increase in the price of Amul milk will be applicable in Delhi and NCR, West Bengal, Mumbai, and all other places where Amul products are sold, apart from Ahmedabad and Saurashtra in Gujarat. This increase in the prices of Amul milk will be applicable from August 17, 2022.

Shortly after the announcement of the increase in the price of Amul milk, Mother Dairy also announced an increase in the price of milk by two per liter. The increased prices of Mother Dairy will also be applicable from August 17 (Wednesday). After the announcement of the new rates, the prices of Amul Milk's Gold, Taza and Shakti brands have increased by Rs 2 per liter. It has been told by GCMMF that these rates will be applicable from today.

Increase in prices due to increase in production and operating charges

GCMMF has said that the decision to increase milk prices was taken due to an increase in milk production and handling charges. GCMMF has said in its statement that the increase in milk prices by Rs 2 per liter has resulted in an increase of 4 percent in MRP which is less than the average rate of inflation for food items.

Spending on animal feed increased by almost 20% in one year

According to GCMMF, the cost of feeding cattle has increased by about 20 percent as compared to the previous year. Given the increase in the input cost, the member unions of Amul have also increased the prices of farmers by eight to nine percent. Keeping these things in view, it has been decided to increase the prices.

The GCMMF has also said that it is the policy of Amul that 80 paise of every rupee a customer spends should reach the milk producers. An increase in milk prices will give relief to our milk producers and will motivate them to increase milk production further.
