The youth wing of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Youth Congress, and Youth League activists took out a protest march towards the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School in Keezhuparamba on Tuesday. He has demanded action against those who dressed the child as VD Savarkar. Pictures from the program aired by news channels showed children dressed as freedom fighters, including Savarkar.
Controversy over photo going viral
VD Savarkar's name was written on a child dressed as one of the freedom fighters to participate in the rally. Controversy arose after its photo went viral on social media. Local media reports said that the photo was taken from the Green Room. However, seeing that there was no controversy, the name board of VD Savarkar was removed before the procession. The school authorities are yet to comment on the controversy.
