New Delhi, March 10 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday marked the centenary commemoration of World War I by paying homage to the martyrs here.
Modi laid a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti here, a day after the commemoration was inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee.
"Marking the Centenary Commemoration of World War I, paid homage to the martyrs at Amar Jawan Jyoti," Modi said in a message.
The commemoration will be in the memory of the 1.5 million Indian soldiers who fought in the war and over 74,000 who made the supreme sacrifice, whose names are etched in stone on India Gate.
The period 2014-2018 is being commemorated as the centenary of World War I.
