New education policy 2020: school education, board exam, major changes in graduation degree, learn 20 special things

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the new education policy, which has made several major changes from schooling to higher education. The National Education Policy (NEP), approved by the Cabinet, has paved the way for foreign universities to continue their work in India with the introduction of reforms in the Indian education sector from 2020. Experts in the higher education sector are currently uncertain about its immediate impact, but many believe that allowing the top 200 foreign universities to work in India could raise the standards of Indian universities.

The documents in this new education policy read, 'Selected universities (ie among the top 200 universities in the world) will be allowed to operate in India. A legislative framework will be implemented to facilitate such admissions and such universities have to comply with all regulatory, administration, and content norms applicable to Indian universities. '

Industry representatives and experts believe that the new education policy is obstructive in many ways as this country is establishing itself as a better option for international students. However, experts like Narayanan Ramaswamy, Partner and Leader (Education and Skill Development) of KPMG India feel that foreign universities should not be treated like Indian universities but should be allowed to operate with less hindrance. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has changed its name to the Ministry of Education under the new education policy and the Ministry believes that India ranks 26th in terms of mobility of international students.

The new education policy aims to reduce spending in the education sector to 6 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) and to reach 50 percent of gross enrollment in higher education by the year 2035. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters that the new education policy was approved in the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He told that education policy had not changed for 34 years, so it is very important. After the meeting, Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare and School Education and Literacy Secretary Anita Karwal gave detailed information about the new education policy during the press conference. Many major changes have been made in the new education policy, from school education to higher education. There will be a single regulator for higher education (excluding law and medical education), besides aiming to reach a 50 percent gross enrollment rate by 2035. In the new policy, multiple entry and exit (multi-level entry and exit) system has been implemented. Khare said that according to today's system, if after four years of engineering or after studying 6 semesters, then for some reason, there is no solution. But now in the multi-level entry and exit system, the certificate will be available after 1 year, diploma after two years, and degree after three-four years. This is a big decision in the interest of the students. At the same time, students who want to go into the research field will have a four-year degree program, while those who want to get into a job will do a three-year degree program.

The new system also provides for exemption from MA and degree programs after filing. Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare said that about 4.43 percent of the total GDP is being spent in education, but there is a target to increase it to 6 percent, and the Center and the states together will achieve this goal. He said that in addition to Hindi and English languages, there will be e-courses in eight regional languages. The program of Virtual Lab will be carried forward. With this, a National Education Technology Forum is being created. He said that the National Research Foundation (NRF) will be established which will promote research and innovation. The Ministry of Human Resource Development has now been renamed as Ministry of Education. Technology in education (teaching, learning, and teaching, learning, and assessment) will be promoted. Education will be promoted in PwDs through technology. At the same time, School Education Secretary Anita Karwal told that the National Curriculum has been 15 years since 2005 and now the new curriculum will come. Similarly, it has been 11 years since the curriculum of teacher education has also been improved. He said that a new policy has been taken to reduce the burden of board examination.
