Odisha Portraying Food Security Scheme as its own: BJP

Posted on 28th Jan 2015 04:58 pm by mohit kumar

Bhubaneswar, Jan 27 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday accused the Odisha government of trying to hijack the National Food Security Act, which guarantees food for poor people in the country.

"The BJD-ruled Odisha government is trying to hijack the central government scheme which provides Rs.4,000 crore per year to the state," said BJP spokespersons Sameer Mohanty and Sajjan Sharma in a press statement.

The BJP alleged that the BJD leaders, including ministers, are publicising the scheme by including pictures of their own and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the posters.

"They are trying to create an atmosphere as if the scheme was initiated by the state government. But the government should understand that it cannot fool all the people all the time."

They also demanded that the logo of the central government should be put up on the posters and leaflets meant to publicise the food security legislation in the state.
