The ED had recovered Rs 21 crore in cash during raids at Arpit Mukherjee's house. Arpita Mukherjee, once an actor and model, was close to Partha Chatterjee for the past few years. Parth and Arpita were arrested on Saturday. Before that, the pictures of the cache of notes recovered from Arpita's house had become quite viral. According to sources, Arpita told that the entire amount was kept in a room of her house, where only Partha Chatterjee and his people had an entry. Arpita says that every week or once in 10 days, Partha Chatterjee used to come to her house.

Arpita has also admitted during interrogation that the money was derived from bribes taken instead of transfer postings and for getting recognition in colleges.
