Punjab Assembly elections date extended, now voting will be held on February 20

All these parties had appealed to the Election Commission that because of Ravidas Jayanti, the elections for the state assembly should be extended beyond February 14. The eyes of all the political parties of Punjab were fixed on the decision of the Election Commission today.

It is worth mentioning that the BJP and Punjab Lok Congress, including the ruling party of the state, had written a letter to the Election Commission in this regard and appealed. State CM Charanjit Singh Channi has appealed that the date of election should be pushed forward by at least six days. It is a jubilee. About 32 percent of the state's population worships Guru Ravidas. Every year most of the people from the state visit Varanasi on this auspicious occasion. In such a situation, most of the people will not be able to take part in the elections of the state.

Appealing to the Commission on behalf of the party, it has been said that the absence of lakhs of people at the time of elections will not be right. People who move to Varanasi on Guru Ravidas Jayanti will not be able to be a part of the elections. Therefore, the date of this election should be extended.

A similar appeal has also been made by Punjab Lok Congress, the party of former CM Captain Amarinder Singh. Party General Secretary Kamal Saini in a letter to the Election Commission has said that thousands of people from Punjab visit Varanasi on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti. It said that the date of polling in the state has been kept on February 14. Thousands of people going to Varanasi will not be able to exercise their franchise because of this. He would not want to miss this opportunity. Therefore, this date should be extended. Some other parties also have the same appeal. Let us tell you that on February 14, votes will be cast for the 117 seats of the state assembly in the state, while the counting of votes will be done on March 10.

Significantly, Congress is in power in Punjab. This time the political equation here has become quite interesting. With Captain Amarinder Singh breaking away from the Congress to form a new party and joining hands with the BJP, the electoral battle looks quite interesting.
