In the 2020 IPL, Rahul Tewatia's bat, who came into the limelight by hitting five consecutive sixes in five consecutive balls against Punjab Kings, remained silent in the 2021 IPL. At the same time, due to not passing the fitness test, he could not get a chance in playing XI despite being in the team in the home T20 series against England in early 2021.

The backlift has been made higher

His childhood coach Vijay Yadav says that runs will come out of his bat once again in IPL 2022. He said that a little change has been done in his back lift. His backlift has been raised so that power can come in his shot. The secret of his success in 2020 was also that his backlift was high, but if seen in 2021, he was shooting down the back lift. Worked on this for a few months. Its effect will be seen in the 15th season of IPL.

practiced in open ground

Vijay Yadav said that he has made Tewatia practice in the open ground instead of net practice so that the practice of playing shots can be done freely.

Attention also paid to fitness

Vijay Yadav said that Rahul Tewatia has also focused a lot on fitness. Apart from the gym, he has worked very hard on the ground as well. This time in IPL you will see him agile.

Poor performance in 2021 as compared to 2020

Last season was very bad for Rahul Tewatia. Before that, he scored 255 runs at an average of 42.50 in 14 matches played for Rajasthan Royals in 2020. Also, his strike rate was 139.34. Apart from this, he also took 10 wickets. One can hardly forget his innings of 53 runs in 31 balls against Punjab Kings. In this innings, he hit 5 sixes in 5 consecutive balls in an over of Sheldon Cottrell.

In the last season, he played for Rajasthan in 14 matches, scoring 155 runs at an average of 15.50 and taking 8 wickets. His strike rate was 105.44. Scored only 86 runs in 7 matches played in the first phase of IPL and could not do much in bowling and took only 2 wickets. In the 7 matches played in the second phase in UAE, Rahul Tewatia could only score 12, 2, 0, 9, 2 runs and did not bat once. However, during this time Rahul took five wickets.

Gujarat Titans added with them for 9 crores

In the Mega Auction of IPL 2022, the new team Gujarat Titans bought Rahul Tewatia for 9 crores. There was a competition between the teams to get Tewatia to join them.
