The Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) of Indian Railways has started preparations to procure 100 train sets to increase train speed to 200 kmph in the country. At present, many express trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi are running at a speed of up to 130 kmph in the country. The speed of the train being 200 kmph means that the journey from Lucknow to Delhi will be completed in 2.30 hours, while from Delhi to Patna in 5 hours and from Delhi to Mumbai in 7 hours. Minus the reporting time, check-in, and security check-up time at the airport, then the train will start hitting the plane in a journey of 800-1000 km.

RDSO Director General Sanjeev Bhutani said that RDSO is working in many directions because of better passenger facilities in the coming days. Under this, preparations are being made to buy 100 train sets to run the train at a speed of 200 km per hour. A notification has been issued for this.

Bhutani said that power units have been installed at both ends in RDSO. Work is going on in full swing to test the train set on the tracks. He reminded that RDSO has completed successful testing of Kavach to prevent collision of trains on 4th March 2022. This armor will start being installed in the train from this year itself. This will significantly reduce the chances of rail accidents in the coming days and will make the journey of passengers better and safer.
