Amidst the controversy over the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shahbaz Gill, former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said, "Pakistan Becoming a Banana Republic (politically and economically weak, unstable country)." The PTI chief claims that this is a conspiracy to target him and his party.

Gill was arrested by the police on 9 August after he made controversial remarks against the Pakistani military on television, which were deemed highly hate-filled and seditious by the country's media authority.

A local court on Wednesday granted two-day custody of Gill at the request of Islamabad Police. The court decided to send Gill to Islamabad police custody after a court rejected a police request to extend his custody by two days.

According to the Dawn newspaper, the judge also directed the investigating officer to conduct a medical examination of the respondent and submit the report to the court.

Imran Khan's party has alleged that Gill was first tortured in police custody and now his life is also in danger.

Imran Khan tweeted along with the video of Gill being taken to the hospital and wrote that the civilized world will be shocked to see the level of our brutality. Worst of all, an easy target has been chosen to set an example through torture.

Meanwhile, NS, Maryam, MFR, and AZ, all of whom have attacked state institutions in the worst possible manner and repeatedly through malicious and targeted statements, he said in another tweet.

Meanwhile, the PTI leader, who is a close aide of Imran Khan, was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital in a state of health.

At the same time, Imran Khan has expressed concern over Shahbaz Gill being sent to police remand again.

He said when he was abducted and taken to an undisclosed location and then tortured at the police station, he is in a critical state of mental and physical health. This is part of a conspiracy to target me and PTI by forcibly making false statements against us as they have been doing against social media activists.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan also expressed concern over the court's decision to send Gill on remand.

The commission tweeted that any allegation of misbehavior meted out to him while on remand should be investigated fairly and transparently.
