Russo scored the first century of the World Cup: 109 runs in 56 balls against Bangladesh, Bangladesh scored 101 runs

South African batsman Riley Russo has scored the first century of the T20 World Cup. He achieved this feat in the Super-12 Group-1 match against Bangladesh on Thursday.

 

Rousseau scored 109 off 56 balls. He hit 7 fours and 8 sixes in his innings. This is the 10th century in the history of the T20 World Cup so far. He has scored 10 centuries together with 9 batsmen. Chris Gayle of the West Indies has scored two centuries.

 

First African player to score a century in World Cup

Rousseau has also become the first South African player to score a century in the T20 World Cup. Before him, West Indies' Chris Gayle (2 centuries), India's Suresh Raina, Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene, New Zealand's Brendon McCullum, England's Alekel Hales, Pakistan's Ahmed Shahzad, Bangladesh's Tamim Iqbal, and England's Jos Buttler were separately in this tournament. Have scored centuries in different editions.

 

Two centuries in the last three matches

Rousseau's second century in the last three T20 Internationals. He scored an unbeaten century in 48 balls in the last match of the three-20 match series played with India before the World Cup. He did not get a chance to bat in South Africa's first match against Zimbabwe in this T20 World Cup. This match was canceled due to rain. Both the teams got 1 point each.

 

South Africa won by 104 runs

 

South Africa defeated Bangladesh by 104 runs in this match. Batting first after winning the toss, the South African team scored 205 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. In reply, the Bangladesh team was all out on the score of 101 runs in 16.3 overs. That is, Bangladesh's team could not even match Rousseau's score.
