
Following the BJP's victory in the Bengal elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Kolkata on Friday to oversee the election of the Legislature Party leader—that is, the new Chief Minister. According to sources within the state BJP, a meeting of the Legislature Party is likely to be held tomorrow itself, in Shah's presence, during which the leader will be elected.

Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya announced that the swearing-in ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 9, coinciding with Rabindra Jayanti. The event is scheduled to be held at 10:00 AM at Kolkata's historic Brigade Parade Ground. It is noteworthy that on Tuesday, the BJP's Parliamentary Board had appointed Home Minister Shah as the central observer for the selection of the Legislature Party leader in Bengal.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the newly elected BJP MLAs has been convened for 3:00 PM on Wednesday at the party's state headquarters in Salt Lake, Kolkata. The State President, along with the party's election in-charge and the central observer, will be present at this meeting.
