Jaipur, March 8 (IANS) A tiger cub was found dead on Sunday at the Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan, a forest department official said.
"A tiger cub, around one year old, and belonging to the T-8 tigress, was found dead today (Sunday) in Zone 6 (Kundal area) of the park. We conducted a post-mortem examination and found that the cub was either killed by a tiger or by some other wild animal," a forest department official told IANS over phone.
As per the official, the tiger population in the park is presently estimated at around 60, including cubs.
Ranthambore, situated in Sawai Madhopur district, over 140 km from state capital Jaipur, covers an area of around 400 sq km. It is around 500 sq km along with the Sawai Man Singh sanctuary.
