Kolkata, Jan 10 (IANS) Describing the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal as a failure, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy Saturday said it was time for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to go.
Swamy made the observation during an interactive session of the Merchant's Chamber of Commerce here.
Calling Bangladeshi infiltrators a big threat to India, Swamy asked Bangladesh to either take them back or give India control of its territory proportionate to the number of infiltrators.
"Not only the Saradha scam, Mamata Banerjee has been a complete failure, be it in maintaining law and order or producing any concrete economic plan or to prevent infiltration.
"Earlier she had fought the communists like a tigress. But now time has come for her to get back to the cage. Things that I come across now on TV about Bengal, I think it is time for her to go," said Swamy.
Claiming that nearly one-third of its population had infiltrated into India, Swamy demanded that Bangladesh take them back or relinquish a proportionate part of its territory.
"In the partition we gave up our land because they wanted a separate country. But now almost 1/3rd of Bangladeshi people are living in India. So, Bangladesh should either take its people back or relinquish a proportionate territory to India," he said.
Favouring the abolition of income tax, Swamy said that from June the government will initiate the process of disclosing the names of all the people who have stashed black money in tax havens.
"There is no need to collect income tax as India can generate enough revenue through auctions of coal blocks or the spectrum. Besides, the country can survive on the black money that is stashed abroad," he said.
Assuring that the BJP was working to fulfil its promise of bringing black money back, Swamy said: "I have already written to the prime minister suggesting several effective measures to get hands on the money. From June onwards, the process of disclosing the names of the account holders will begin".
