The United States has banned the travel of non-American people coming here from India. The US government has prohibited the entry of all non-Americans from India who have been in India within the last 14 days, facing the severe crisis of the Corona epidemic. These restrictions have come into effect from today.

This was done due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in India. However, this order would exempt US citizens, green card holders, and their non-American spouses and children. Apart from this, students, academics, and journalists will also be exempted in some categories.

How long did the restrictions apply?

These travel restrictions have been implemented indefinitely and can be eliminated only by the President's next manifesto in this regard. This means that this ban will continue till the next order of the US President. This decision has been taken on the advice of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under the Department of Health and Human Services.

Students can come to America in 30 days after classes start

In an order issued on 26 April, the Ministry of External Affairs said that students who have valid F-1 and M-1 visas, but their classes are scheduled to start on or after August 1, need to get a discount for travel now Is not. They can enter the US within the first 30 days of classes starting. Students can check the status of their visas by visiting the nearest embassy or consulate.

It is known that Republican lawmakers protested against President Joe Biden's decision to ban travel from India. MP Tim Barchett had tweeted that, India is our ally and we are banning travel from there, while the border to Mexico has been left open. This is not a logical decision. At the same time, another Republican lawmaker Jody Arrington said, Biden's decision is the same as if you lock the front door, but leave the back door open. "I think it is like disliking other countries," said Lauren Boebert, a female MP. When former US President Donald Trump banned travel from Europe, Biden, a Democratic presidential candidate, opposed Trump's decision.
