Chandigarh, March 18 (IANS) Two sitting legislators in Haryana, including one from the ruling Congress, have resigned from their seats, a spokesman of the assembly said Tuesday.
Speaker Kuldeep Sharma Tuesday accepted the resignations of Congress legislator from Sohna assembly seat, Dharambir, and Shiromani Akali Dal legislator from Kalanwali reserved seat, Charanjeet Singh. The speaker has notified that both assembly seats have fallen vacant.
The term of the present assembly ends in October this year.
Dharambir had earlier this month resigned as chief parliamentary secretary from the government led by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
He has been fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as its candidate from the Bhiwani-Mahendergarh Lok Sabha seat.
Dharambir will contest the election against sitting Congress MP Shruti Chaudhary, who is the granddaughter of former chief minister Bansi Lal and daughter of cabinet minister Kiran Chaudhary.
Charanjeet Singh is likely to contest from the Sirsa Lok Sabha seat on the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) ticket.
The INLD and Akali Dal have a poll alliance in Haryana.
