
Two more hotels have leaned towards each other in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. Their names are Snow Crest and Comet. There was a distance of about 4 feet between the two hotels, which has now reduced to just a few inches. The roofs of these two hotels are almost colliding with each other. That is, these hotels can collide with each other anytime.
Because of security, both these hotels have been evacuated. Both these hotels are 100 meters away from where Hotel Malari Inn and Mount View are. The process of demolishing both these hotels started on Sunday. At the same time, the Supreme Court will hear today the matter of declaring the Joshimath crisis as a national disaster.
20 feet long crack emerges in the wall near the Joshimath-Auli ropeway
Big cracks have emerged near the Joshimath-Auli ropeway. The operations of this ropeway were stopped a week back. Ropeway engineer Dinesh Bhati told that a four-inch wide and 20 feet long crack has appeared on a wall near this ropeway complex.
The number of houses with cracks in this area has also increased from 723 to 826. Of these, 165 houses are in vulnerable areas. The State Disaster Management Institute said that so far 233 families have been shifted to relief centers.
Hotel Malari Inn and Mount View are being demolished by hand
The demolition work, which started on Sunday, is being done under the supervision of the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) Roorkee. CBRI Chief Scientist DP Kanungo said that the hotel cannot be repaired. There are houses around both hotels, so it is necessary to demolish them. The hotel will collapse further, which will cause more damage. That's why they will be dropped off as soon as possible. Mechanical dismantling techniques are being used for this.
He said that we cannot use any kind of heavy vibrating machine here. We have to save the land. For this, special training has been given to the workers. We are trying to ensure that there is minimum or no vibration inside the ground.
Thakur Singh Rana, the owner of Hotel Malari Inn, had said – There is so much pressure from the adjacent hotel building that my hotel is about to collapse. I am helpless, I cannot say anything. Can anyone be happy if their hotel is being demolished? Till now there has been no talk about compensation with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, I have no information about compensation.
