After the peaceful completion of seven phases of the UP assembly, now the final examination of the police has done the counting of votes. This is the reason that at the DGP headquarters level, the arrangements being made in all the districts are being directly monitored. ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that 250 companies of the Central Armed Police Force will be deployed for counting of votes on March 10. Apart from this, 61 company PACs, 625 gazetted police officers, 1807 inspectors, 9598 sub-inspectors, 11627 chief constables and 48649 constables will be on hand.
36 company central force will be on guard of EVMs and 214 company central force will be on duty for counting of votes and law and order. Strict instructions have been given to the police officers of all zones, ranges, and districts regarding security arrangements in and around the counting place. Along with this, an additional police force will be ready in all sensitive areas. Strict instructions have also been given not to take out victory processions anywhere after the counting of votes. Instructions have been given to deal strictly with those found guilty of any kind of malpractices.
The counting of votes will begin at 8 am on March 10. Because of this, instructions have been given to increase patrolling at sensitive places in all districts from the night of March 9. Deployment of the additional police force for counting of votes has been started in all 75 districts and four police commissioners.
Keeping an eye on 15465 chaotic elements: ADG said that during the election, 15465 anti-chaotic elements were listed and their activities were closely monitored along with taking preventive action against them. 186 illegal arms factories were also caught in the checking. Police also recovered 10277 illegal arms, 232 kg of explosives, and 336 bombs. After the election code of conduct came into force, effective checking was also done by doing blockades at 2220 places in the state. During this, more than Rs 52.64 crore was seized. Nepalese currency of Rs 6.66 lakh was also seized. 11.72 lakh liters of illicit liquor were also seized. 16207 kg of narcotic substances and 256 kg of gold and silver were also recovered.
