ED has ordered Sonu Sood to appear at its headquarters in Delhi on September 24. The agency believes that he had a promotional association with an online platform that is banned in India. This app is allegedly involved in illegal online betting and money laundering. The investigating agency is investigating to what extent this app benefited from the branding of celebrities and players and whether the payment rules related to it were violated.
Scope of ED investigation
The Enforcement Directorate has been monitoring such betting websites running on the Internet for a long time, which are against the law of India. Not only does betting take place through these platforms, but activities like hawala and money laundering are also suspected.
