
After media reports of China's testing of hypersonic missiles, the American Congress has claimed in its report that India is also among the select countries that are developing hypersonic weapons. The report claimed that the US, Russia, China have the most advanced hypersonic weapons programs. Australia, India, France, Germany, and Japan are also among the countries developing hypersonic technology. This report of the Congressional Research Service has come to the fore when China recently surprised US intelligence agencies by testing a hypersonic missile.
India building nuclear weapons with Russia
The report claimed that while America and Australia are making nuclear weapons together, India and Russia are also working together on it. Both the countries have supported each other in the Mach-7 hypersonic cruise missile 'BrahMos-2'. Earlier the work of BrahMos-2 was to be completed in 2017, but according to the new report, it will be ready between 2025 to 2028.
India is making indigenous hypersonic missiles of double capacity
The Congressional Research Service report said that India is developing an indigenous hypersonic missile of double capacity under the Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle program and has also successfully test-fired Mach 6 in June 2019 and September 2020.
The report claims India has 12 hypersonic tunnels
The US Congress report claimed that India has 12 hypersonic tunnels, capable of testing speeds up to Mach-13.
