A school run by the Ramakrishna Math, founded by Swami Vivekananda and the Ramakrishna Mission Belur Math, has refused to follow the state education department's dress code directive for students. Ramakrishna Mission Vidya Bhavan, located in Paschim Medinipur district, has decided to continue with its traditional school uniform.
Swami Jayeshanand, the headmaster of Ramakrishna Mission Vidya Bhavan, confirmed that recently the school received a message from the state education department, instructing it to follow the new school uniform code of white and blue combination.
The school authorities then sought suggestions from Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission in the Howrah district, and decided to continue with their traditional dress code. However, so far there is no response from the state education department in this regard.
