
New Delhi, Jan 14 (IANS) Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda Wednesday said a big push would be given to the completion of six AIIMS-like institutes being set up across the country.
"By the end of this month, the governing bodies of all AIIMS would be finalised and all bottlenecks in the construction of these institutes would cleared by the second week of February," Nadda said.
"We are decentralising the entire process, I think this is going to give results," he told reporters here.
The six new institutions modelled on AIIMS are located in Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh and will have medical and nursing colleges.
Asked if more such AIIMS would be set up, Nadda said: "Proposals on new AIIMS will be reflected in the coming union budget".
"AIIMS-like institutes would be set up in each state in a phased manner," he added.
The minister said that no flagship programme of the health ministry would have a budget constraint.
"The health ministry will try and utilize funds in an optimum manner," he added.
