In the second match of IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals competed with Kings XI Punjab.
The result of the second match of the season came out in the super over and it is the thrill of cricket that the Delhi team was not seen in the first ten overs, it managed to win the match.
On the other hand, the team of Kings XI Punjab had reached the position of winning the match, they finally lost this match.
In this match, while some other new players shed their light, some old cricketers have shown that they are alive.
Let's take a look at what happened in front of the night's super over.
Super Over Adventures
In the Super over, both teams get six balls and have to make quick runs in it. Punjab team also got six balls but due to the batsmen of the team, their innings was reduced to two runs off just three balls.
Captain KL Rahul scored two runs off Kagiso Rabada and Nicholas Puran was also bowled clean on his next ball. Only two runs were hung on the team's scorecard. Puran did not open his account even in the 20 overs and his account could not be opened even in the super over.
Delhi had to score only three runs, Mohammed Shami threw the second ball wide, and after that Rishabh Pant gave the team the victory with two runs.
Rabada number one in the super over
Kagiso Rabada showed once again in the super over that he knows how to bowl with full control even in moments of pressure. First, he duped KL Rahul, known for his fast-paced batting, and clean bowled Nicholas Puran of the West Indies on his next ball.
Rabada is one of the most talented bowlers of the current era and in T20 cricket he has shown the charisma of winning the team in delicate moments on many occasions. In the last season of the IPL, he saved Andre Russell in the Super Over by punching Andre Russell in front of Kolkata Knight Riders.
You can also include Kagiso Rabada in the players who made the match for Delhi. Because Jordan's best catch by Stoinis was taken by Rabada to deliver in the super over.
But even more important was the contribution of all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.
Stoinis strong performance
The one player who contributed most to Delhi's victory was Marcus Stoinis. First, he took Delhi's batting out of the crisis. The Delhi Capitals team could not score fifty runs in the first 10 overs. But Stoinis made the victory in the last five overs to reach the winning score. Delhi scored 64 runs in these five overs.
In this, Stoinis played a blistering innings of 53 runs from 21 balls. Which included seven fours and three strong sixes. His batting performance can be gauged by the fact that he hit 30 runs in the 20th over of the innings.
But his innings was almost thwarted by Punjab's Mayank Agarwal on his own when the final over of the match was bowled by Marcus Stoinis. Punjab had to score 13 runs from six balls to win and Mayank Agarwal hit 12 runs from his three balls.
But Stoinis knew that even a ball can reverse luck. He took two wickets from the last two balls of the match and sent the match to the super over. Where his team easily won this match. For this reason, he was chosen as Player of the Match.
How did Mayank Agarwal miss the victory?
Mayank Agarwal came to start the innings for Punjab and he almost single-handedly took Punjab out of the crisis but also reached the threshold of victory. When the pressure was felt on the team, then the sixes and fours coming out of his bat kept the team in the face.
The Punjab team had lost five wickets for 55 runs in 10 overs but Mayank Agarwal kept one end. By playing in the air in the cover off the fifth ball of the 19th over, when he was caught out, he had scored 89 runs in 60 balls with the help of seven fours and four sixes. But his hard work lost water when his team lost the match.
So, whether Mayank Agarwal was the player that caused the Punjab team to lose, when they missed out on winning, it can only be said.
Who is most responsible for the defeat of Punjab
But in the defeat of the Punjab team, another player played a bigger role than them. He was the team's all-rounder Chris Jordan. What did Chris Jordan do in this entire match. Knowing this, you will begin to consider them as the biggest responsible for the defeat of Punjab.
Chris Jordan is the only all-rounder on whose bowling, Delhi Capitals batsmen scored 30 runs in the last over. Stoinis helped Delhi Capitals score beyond 150 with the help of two sixes and three fours.
Chris Jordan spent 56 runs in four overs. These runs made Punjab very heavy.
However, Jordan also got a chance to become a hero for the team in this match. When Marcus Stoinis had the challenge of scoring just one run on the last ball, but he played the ball coming at the leg stump directly into the hands of Kagiso Rabada. Due to which the match reached the super over.
Both team captains disappointed
However, in this case, the captains of both the teams were very disappointed. Punjab captain KL Rahul could not show any spark with his bat on both occasions. Moreover, how he did not field Mayank Agarwal in the Super Over is also being questioned.
It is true that Mayank Agarwal must be tired and will be in trouble due to the heat and humidity of Dubai but it was just a matter of six balls and he was seen in his full touch. But the decision not to feed them in the super over also cost Punjab dearly.
At the same time, Shreyas Iyer could not make much impact by captaining Delhi. Although he made 39 runs, but his team mostly appeared on the backfoot on most occasions. In the 19th over, he not only caught Mayank Agarwal off Kagiso Rabada's ball and the ball went beyond the boundary.
Shikhar Dhawan - Glenn Maxwell
Delhi Capitals expected a big innings from Shikhar Dhawan here but they disappointed. In the second over, a catch from Mohammad Shami was dropped by Punjab captain and wicketkeeper KL Rahul. But Dhawan came out here for the runs in a big casual fashion.
On the other hand, after dripping the catch, KL Rahul threw towards the wicket in an agile manner. Although by then Shikhar Dhawan tried to make a comeback, but the half-hearted half he ran for the run seemed to be returning to the wicket. The result was that Shikhar Dhawan had a poor start in the IPL.
On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell of Punjab is also disappointed. Punjab had high hopes from Maxwell, who scored a blistering century against England in his last ODI, but he scored just one run off four balls.
Mohammad Shami - R Ashwin showed strength
For Punjab, Mohammed Shami took three wickets for fifteen runs in four overs. This is his best spell in IPL so far.
On the other hand, R Ashwin bowled just one over from Delhi Capitals and took two wickets in it. However, after this over, he unfit walked out of the ground. But his over proved to be the turning point of the match in away.
Ravi Bishnoi showed his talent
The young Ravi Bishnoi of Jodhpur also managed to show his influence among all the famous players of this match. This young 20-year-old leg-break bowler surprised people with his variety of four overs bowling. In his first IPL match, Ravi Bishnoi also achieved the first success as Rishabh Pant.
