WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is in jail at Belmarsh. Efforts are on to get them out, but without success. However, now they are going to get happiness. He is allowed to marry his fiancé Stella Morris in prison.
Assange has been in London prison since 2019
Assange has been imprisoned in a London prison since 2019. The US Department of Law refused to extradite him to the US because there was a risk to his mental health and there was a possibility of him committing suicide. Assange made thousands of classified documents public in 2010-11.
Lived in Ecuador for 7 years
Assange sought asylum from Ecuador in 2012, after which he was granted political patronage at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. He stayed here from 2012 to 2019. On 11 April 2019, he missed the court appearance, after which he was arrested.
18 cases of espionage against Assange
After his arrest, the application filed by the US court to extradite him was made public. On 23 May 2019, the US Grand Jury filed 17 cases of espionage against Assange. With this, there have been 18 cases against Assange in the US, whose total sentence can be up to 175 years. Because of this, Assange is not ready for extradition to America.
Assange is the father of two children
Assange met Stella Morrison while he was staying at the Ecuadorian Embassy. Both have two children. According to the Marriage Act, 1983, prisoners are allowed to marry in jail. A prison spokesman said Assange's application was read and the governor forwarded it as he would to any other prisoner.
Two years ago, the relationship of both came in front of the world
Assange and Stella's love story was hidden from the world. Two years ago he told the world about their relationship. He said that Australian Assange was in a relationship with Morris for five years while living in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.
He had been spending time hiding in the Ecuador embassy since 2012. He feared arrest for US spying. During this time, his closeness with lawyer Morris grew. The lawyer says they both wanted to get married soon. At that time, among Assange's children, Gabriel was 2 years old and Max was one year old.
