KL Rahul, who led the team to victory due to his unbeaten century against Mumbai Indians, seems to be in danger of being banned. While LSG scored 168 runs in the match, on the other hand, Mumbai was restricted to a score of just 132 runs and won the match by 36 runs.
Even after this grand victory, the IPL Governing Council has announced punishment against Lucknow Super Giants. This penalty has been imposed due to slow over-rate. Captain KL Rahul has been fined Rs 24 lakh, while other players in the team have been fined Rs 6 lakh or 25% of the match fee, whichever is less.
Another mistake will be too heavy
This is the second time in the season that Lucknow under the captaincy of KL Rahul has been fined for slow over-rate. It is interesting that for the first time, in the match against Mumbai itself on April 16, Lucknow did not complete the overs in the stipulated time and the entire team along with the captain paid the fine. In that match too, KL Rahul scored a brilliant century and won his team.
If the Lucknow team makes the mistake of slow over-rate for the third time, then its most important batsman and captain KL Rahul will be banned for one match. The rules state that if the captain is fined for the third time in a season due to slow over-rate, he faces a one-match ban with a fine of 30 lakhs.
Super Giants won based on an excellent performance
Mumbai Indians won the toss of the coin and decided to bowl first. The bowlers bowled better, but could not get KL Rahul out. Rahul played an unbeaten 103 off 62 balls with the help of 12 fours and four sixes. He completed his century by hitting a six in the last over. Apart from Rahul, Manish Pandey scored 22 runs in 22 balls.
Mumbai Indians lost their eighth match in a row in the IPL on Sunday. Chasing the target of 169 runs, the team could score only 132 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Captain Rohit Sharma (39) was the top scorer, while Tilak Verma scored 38 runs. Krunal Pandya got 3 wickets from LSG. Rohit Sharma once again could not play a match-winning innings for Mumbai. He got a good start, but he could not become a strong link in the weak batting order. MI had high hopes from Suryakumar Yadav too, but only 7 runs came off his bat. Surya became the victim of Ayush Badoni, whose first wicket was in the IPL.
