Weather Update: Weather takes a turn in Delhi-NCR; strong winds hit Noida, plunging the area into darkness during the day.

Residents across Delhi-NCR received much-needed relief from intense heat and humidity on Monday as rain, strong winds, and cloudy skies transformed the weather conditions in several parts of the region. Areas including Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, and other NCR locations witnessed light to moderate rainfall during the morning hours, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures.

The sudden weather change provided respite from the uncomfortable humidity that had gripped the region over the past few days. Many residents stepped outdoors to enjoy the pleasant conditions as cooler winds swept through the National Capital Region.

Strong Winds and Dark Clouds Cover Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram

As the day progressed, dark clouds gathered over several parts of Delhi-NCR, accompanied by gusty winds and localized storms. Strong winds were reported in Noida, Gurugram, and other nearby areas, significantly improving weather conditions and reducing daytime temperatures.

According to meteorological observations, the rain and cloud cover helped lower temperatures by a few degrees below normal levels, offering temporary relief from the summer heat.

IMD Forecast: Dust Storms and Rain Expected

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted dusty winds with speeds ranging between 40 and 50 kilometers per hour, along with scattered light rainfall and drizzle from Monday afternoon into the evening.

Weather experts believe these conditions are linked to changing atmospheric patterns affecting northern India, bringing intermittent rainfall and gusty winds across the region.

Temperature Drops After Weekend Heatwave Conditions

Sunday had been particularly challenging for Delhi residents as temperatures climbed significantly.

According to weather department data:

Minimum temperature recorded: 26.2°C

Maximum temperature recorded: 38.5°C

Minimum temperature increased by 4.8°C over the previous 24 hours

Maximum temperature increased by 2.9°C over the previous 24 hours

Despite the increase, both minimum and maximum temperatures remained below the seasonal average by 1.8°C and 1.4°C respectively.

The intense sunshine and rising humidity had made outdoor activities difficult for many residents before Monday’s weather shift arrived.

Delhi Weather Forecast for the Coming Days

While Monday's rainfall has brought temporary relief, weather experts warn that the respite may be short-lived.

According to IMD projections:

Daytime temperatures are expected to rise gradually over the coming week.

Maximum temperatures could reach 41°C to 42°C by June 20.

Humidity levels may continue to fluctuate depending on rainfall activity.

Intermittent cloud cover and localized showers may still occur in some areas.

Residents are advised to remain prepared for changing weather conditions as Delhi transitions through a period of fluctuating temperatures and occasional rainfall.

Why Delhi-NCR Is Experiencing Sudden Weather Changes

Meteorologists explain that pre-monsoon weather systems often trigger sudden thunderstorms, gusty winds, and scattered rainfall across North India during June. These systems temporarily cool temperatures but are usually followed by renewed heat once the clouds clear.

Such weather patterns are common before the full arrival of the southwest monsoon and often bring short-term relief from heatwave-like conditions.

Relief for Commuters and Residents

The rainfall and cooler temperatures were welcomed by office-goers, students, and commuters who had been struggling with extreme heat and humidity. Parks, markets, and public spaces saw increased activity as residents took advantage of the pleasant weather.

However, experts caution that with temperatures expected to climb again later this week, people should continue taking precautions against heat-related illnesses and remain hydrated.
