The PM of the Caretaker Government got 25 thousand 534 votes and defeated his rival Sagar Dhakal who got 13 thousand 42 votes for the post of Member of the House of Representatives. Nepali voters are actively participating in the periodic general elections with the hope of "stable government and development". This is the second general election since the promulgation of the constitution in 2015. Nepali voters were somewhat disappointed in the 2017 elections, as the government did not last long.

61 percent polling

According to the Election Commission of Nepal, about 61 percent of voters voted in the parliamentary and provincial elections held on 20 November. Addressing a press conference, Nepal's Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapliya said that this polling percentage is less than the Election Commission's expectation. He said that barring a few incidents of violence, elections were held peacefully throughout the country.
