PEAR in appliactiond development

Posted on 16th Feb 2014 07:03 pm by admin

When I was picking up PHP I went from procedural programming, fairly quickly into OOP, then after writing a bunch of custom libraries and applications I discovered CodeIgniter. I pretty much completely skipped PEAR all together. I have recently been tasked to work on an application that relies a lot of PEAR libraries. How relevant is PEAR today? Its been around for ages and is still being developed. Does anyone here still use it frequently? Does PEAR have a bright future or is it past its 'hay day'?
