25 lakh new voters in Jammu and Kashmir: Army personnel and migrants will cast their votes, Abdullah said – BJP is importing votes for victory

After the abrogation of Article 370, elections can be held in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time in November-December. The ground for dispute is also ready before the election. For the first time, preparations are being made to give the right to vote to non-Kashmiris. That is, those who are not of Kashmiri origin but are living here, will also be able to vote.

20 to 25 lakh such people are being added to the voter list. Most of them will be security forces personnel and migrant laborers. After this announcement of the State Election Commission, all the equations in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir have changed. It is believed that the biggest advantage of this will be for BJP. On this Omar Abdullah of the National Conference has said that BJP is importing voters for victory.

30% of voters will increase in one stroke

It is clear from the data that about 30% of new voters are going to join in Jammu and Kashmir. The largest number of these will be security forces personnel. After this, there will be migrant laborers going from states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Election Commissioner Hridesh Kumar said that after the removal of Article 370, a large number of new voters will be added.

There is a rule in RPA that wherever a person wants to get his voter card, he should stay there. The officials attached to the Election Commission will decide whether he resides in Jammu and Kashmir or not.

Due to the removal of 35A, you will get the right to vote

Before the abrogation of Article 35A, people coming from other states could neither settle in Jammu and Kashmir nor did they have the right to buy property. Under this article, citizens of other states living in Kashmir did not have the right to vote in panchayat and assembly elections. Earlier they could vote only in the Lok Sabha elections. With the removal of 35A, all such people, even if temporarily residing in Kashmir, will have the right to be included in the voting list.

BJP benefits the most from the change

Election analyst Sanjay Kumar says that if you add 33% of new voters to the voter list of Jammu and Kashmir and most of them are those who have settled from other states, then it will completely change the electoral equation of the state. The Valley has historically been dominated by only two parties, the National Conference and the PDP. BJP has not been able to make inroads there. Congress also has little place.

The newly joining voters do not have much concern with the parties in Kashmir. This 33% part of the voters can go with the national parties. Among the national parties, BJP is getting the maximum benefit. BJP can be seen fighting the elections in Jammu and Kashmir with great strength.

90 seats in Jammu and Kashmir after delimitation

After the delimitation in Jammu and Kashmir, 90 seats have become. Of these, 7 are for Scheduled Castes. For the first time, 9 seats have also been reserved for Scheduled Tribes. Hridesh Kumar of the Election Commission said that work is being done to prepare a fresh voter list for all the 90 assemblies. The deadline for this was set as 1 January 2019. Now those who have turned 18 on or before October 1, 2022, can add their names to the voter list.

Kumar said that by this process about 25 lakh new people will be included in the voting list. Around 600 new polling stations have been set up. Now there are 11,370 polling stations. The draft voter list will be shared at every polling station. Camps will be organized for voter registration everywhere. New voters can join here. Correction can also be done. The voter list will be linked with the Aadhar number. The final list will be released on November 25.

BJP gains maximum in Jammu region

PDP leader and lawyer Firdous Tak says that in areas like Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, Kathua, Reasi, Kistwar, Doda, and Ramban, the soldiers associated with the security forces are in the most peaceful posting. Therefore, the maximum impact of the decision will be seen in Jammu. Fewer people may register in the Kashmir Valley due to security concerns. The biggest impact of the abrogation of 370 will be on Jammu.

Voter cards can be made by migrants like this

State Election Commission official Hridesh Kumar said that under the Representation of the People Act, those voters who are not of Jammu and Kashmir origin but are living here will be registered. They will have to provide their residential proof. Based on the investigation, the local election officials will include his name in the voter list.

Sanjay Kumar of CSDS said that in any state a citizen of another state can get voter registration. There is no fixed term for this that one can be included in the voting list only after the completion of 6 months or one year. If a person has come even 5 days ago and has residential proof, then he can be included in the voter list.
