36th National Games: Lok Sabha Speaker said – The tricolor got international recognition due to the efforts of the players

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla addressed the participants at the closing ceremony of the 36th National Games held in Surat, Gujarat on Wednesday. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, MPs and ministers, and MLAs of the Gujarat government were present on the occasion. Regarding the outstanding performance of the players in the program, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the energy of the playground and the sportsman spirit of the players guides them in every sphere of society and life. Be it the field of politics, business, or education, sportsmanship in every field teaches us to take the competition positively, so that we always keep moving forward without taking others along with any hatred in our mind. Sports develop the spirit of teamwork.

 

In the program, Lok Sabha Speaker Birla expressed happiness that for the first time this year, traditional Yogasan and Mallakhamb have also been included in the National Games. These sports are our heritage, which all Indians are proud of. Speaking about the government's initiatives to promote sports, Lok Sabha Speaker Birla said that the government's dedication towards sports has boosted the spirits of the sportspersons. Referring to the country's rising profile in the sports world, Lok Sabha Speaker Birla said that today Indian sportspersons are winning many medals at national and international levels. Due to his best efforts, the tricolor has got international recognition in the field of sports. Apart from sports, we have also made India an identity in the whole world through yoga.

 

Referring to the unity in diversity of the country, Lok Sabha Speaker Birla said that young players from different states of the country, speaking different languages, and from different cultures, have a unique spirit towards sports, which will bring unity to the whole country. Inspire fraternity and harmony. Sports are extremely important for our all-around development, which builds physical, and intellectual ability as well as character. Lok Sabha Speaker Birla said about the increasing participation of women in every field, including sports, that today the daughters of the country are making India proud not only in sports but in every sphere of society, in education, science, in technology. He expressed happiness that the women players of India have continuously enhanced the name of our country in sports at the national and international levels. Referring to the Amrit Mahotsav of independence, Lok Sabha Speaker Birla said that on the occasion of the completion of 75 years of independence, all the countrymen should take a pledge to take the country forward with more energy. In the elixir of freedom, there should be a resolve to move forward in the direction of becoming the best by realizing the spirit of sports in every sphere of life.

 

Referring to the events like Khelo India, Fit India, and University Games, Lok Sabha Speaker Birla said that such campaigns have given a new direction to our young generation to move forward, have given new energy and with the efforts of the government, sports have been promoted at the grassroots level. Every person is also getting an opportunity to showcase their sports talent, getting a platform to showcase their skills. On this occasion, he expressed confidence that India with a healthy population, capable youth power, strong determination, and strong willpower will lead the world today. Lok Sabha Speaker Birla expressed confidence that in the times to come, sports and sportspersons of India will play a big role in making the country a new identity on the world stage.
