7th Pay Commission: Central employees can get Holi gift today, it is possible to announce a three percent increase in DA

Posted on 16th Mar 2022 01:10 pm by rohit kumar

On Wednesday, the government can give the gift of Holi to the central employees. A report has raised the possibility that a big announcement can be made regarding central employees and pensioners in the cabinet meeting to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. In this, it is possible to announce the increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) of central employees.

Eagerly waiting for employees

It is worth noting that central government employees are also waiting for the increase in Housing Rental Allowance (HRA) along with dearness allowance and dearness relief arrears. Let us tell you that the cost of living allowance given to DA, public sector employees, and pensioners is increased twice a year in January and July. At present, 31 percent dearness allowance is being given to central employees, in which a three percent increase can be announced. After this, the total dearness allowance will increase to 34 percent.

This is how dearness allowance is decided

Explain that the government's announcement on the increase in DA will be based on the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission. Dearness allowance is given based on the salary of the employees. Dearness allowance is different for government employees working in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas. It is calculated on the basic pay. Looking at the earlier reports, it was also hoped that before Holi, the government can give a big gift to the employees by announcing the increase in DA. According to a report released in this regard, the increased salary, along with the arrears of January and February, will be given to the employees in March.

employees will bat

At present, the total dearness allowance is 31 percent, which may increase to 34 percent after the announcement. If the dearness allowance is increased to 34 percent, then the salary may increase by 20 thousand rupees. Under the 7th Central Pay Commission, the DA of government employees is determined based on basic pay. After increasing by 3 percent in October and 11 percent in July, the current DA rate has gone up to 31 percent.

A major part of salary and pension

It is worth noting that Dearness Allowance is a major part of the salary of the employee and pension of the pensioners. This allowance is given to central government employees to offset the effect of inflation on their salaries. Under the 7th Pay Commission (7th CPC), the government gives increment in DA twice a year in January and July. DA also varies based on the locations of government employees.

48 lakh employees benefit

According to the report, if the government announces the salary hike, it will benefit about 48 lakh central government employees and 65 lakh pensioners across India. Last year, the government increased the dearness allowance of central government employees from 28 percent to 31 percent. Despite the Covid-19 epidemic, these employees were given DA increments. However, no official announcement has been made by the government in this regard yet.
