86 injured, one dead in Jallikattu so far: third day's play continues in Alanganallur, Tamil Nadu; Collector said – extra security arrangements

The sport of Jallikattu continues in Tamil Nadu. The third day's play began at 8 am at Alanganallur in Madurai on Tuesday. So far, 86 people have been injured during the two days of play, while a bull tamer was killed in Palamedu.

 

After the incident, the Madurai Collector said, 'We have decided to provide extra security for the safe conduct of Jallikattu. The spectator area has been made separate from the playing area to reduce the risk of injuries.

 

The person who caught 28 bulls in 11 rounds on the first day got a car

The first day's play at Avaniyapuram consisted of 11 rounds. In which 737 bulls and 257 players participated. The first day's play ended at 5 pm. Vijay of Solai Algupuram was declared the best bull tamer. He won the first prize in a car for taming 28 bulls. Kamesh's bull of Kathanendal was declared the best bull. He received a motorcycle as an award.

 

This time 800 bulls and 350 players got permission from SC

Only 300 bull tamers and 150 spectators have been allowed to attend the Jallikattu competition. According to reports, around 10,000 bulls and 5,400 bull tamers had given online registration applications. Out of these, only 800 bulls were permitted to participate. A bull can participate in only one of the three events.

 

Jallikattu starts on Pongal day, very dangerous

The bull-taming game Jallikattu, also known as Eru Thajuvuthal and Manakuvirattu, is played on the day of Mattu Pongal. It is a game in which a bull is released into the crowd. The participants in this game try to control the bull by holding its hump for as long as possible.
