India is the fourth largest research country globally. According to data from the research database Cyval, between 2017 and 2022, there has been a 54 percent increase in this sector. This figure is more than double the global increase in research. About 15 percent of research papers have been published in top journals during this period. This has been revealed in the QS World University Subject Ranking.

Most of the research work has been done in the engineering and technology sector. This figure is about 52.6 percent of the total research work. India is also doing 19 percent of the research work in collaboration between two or more countries. This is the reason why Indian universities have risen in QS rankings in recent years. The QS World University Subject Rankings were released in London on Wednesday. 66 Indian universities have found a place in the QS World University Subject Rankings. This is 18.7 percent more than the year 2022. This year 355 universities in India applied. Out of this, 11 universities got a place in the Institute of Eminence.
