A major statement by Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawala has come to light on the slowing of the Corona vaccination campaign in the country and the lack of vaccines. Adar Poonawala has clarified the controversy arising out of his recent statements. Poonawala, currently living in Britain, said in a statement that his statements may have been distorted.

Sharing a statement on Twitter, Poonawala said that amidst many false reports, it was necessary to convey the right information to the people. Adar Poonawala has said in his statement that many of his statements were misrepresented. Poonawalla said about the lack of vaccines, the first thing is that the manufacturing of vaccines is a special process. In such a situation, it cannot be extended overnight. Poonawala said that we need to understand that India has a very large population.

 

We are working together with the government

 

In such a situation, manufacturing the corona vaccine is not an easy task for all adults. Even countries with much less population than us are facing a shortage of vaccines. Apart from this, Poonawalla has also responded to the allegations of weakening cohesion with the government. He said that we have been working closely with the government since April last year. We have got all kinds of support from the government, whether it is scientific, rules, or economic cooperation. He has also answered the question of not getting new orders from the government.

 

26 million vaccine dose orders have been received so far

 

Poonawala said that till now we have received orders for 26 crore vaccine doses. Out of this, 150 million doses have been supplied on our behalf so far. Apart from this, an advance of Rs 1,732 crore has been given by the government for the next 11 crore doses. 110 million doses will be supplied by us in the next few months. Apart from this, 11 crore additional doses will be supplied to states and private hospitals on our behalf in the next few months. Poonawala said that we all want that the vaccine can be supplied quickly. We are making a lot of efforts for this. Hopefully, we will win the battle against Corona soon.
