The team lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator match and was eliminated from the tournament. It was a very disappointing end for skipper Virat Kohli as he failed to win a single trophy as a captain for the team. This was his last match as captain. After this match, he will never captain the team, although he will continue to play as a player.

 

Batting first in the Eliminator of IPL on Monday, Bangalore's team could only score 138 runs for 7 wickets in front of Kolkata. Sunil Narine took four wickets while bowling lethal against RCB. Chasing the target, Kolkata won by losing 6 with two balls to spare. Now Kolkata team will face the Delhi Capitals team in Qualifier 2.

 

Virat said after the end of the match, "As a captain, I did as much as I could and gave my 120 percent for this one thing. I have said this thing before and I am repeating once again that till Even I will go to play in this tournament, that team will be RCB. I have given my full dedication and for me, as mentioned loyalty is a very big thing. Nothing else matters in front of it."

 

"I have given up the captaincy of the team but I can't see myself playing for any team other than this team. Under the captaincy of this team and I am ready to take the field for the team from next season onwards. I have already been told that I want to be associated with this one team till my last breath.
