Agra, April 20 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan Sunday asked voters to cast their ballot in favour of the Samajwadi Party, saying it has put in major efforts to develop the state.
Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party for its divisive politics, Akhilesh said the Samajwadi Party has made unrelenting efforts to develop the state without distinguishing between caste or community.
Addressing a rally in Etmadpur for party candidate Maharaj Singh Dhangar, who is contesting from the Agra reserved seat, Akhilesh said his party candidates had done well in the first and second phase of polling, and listed all the good work and projects his party has launched.
Agra goes to polls April 24.
Jaya Bachchan, meanwhile, campaigned for Samajwadi Party candidate from Fatehpur Sikri Pakshalika Singh at an election meeting in Fatehabad.
She criticised former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, who is contesting on a Rashtriya Lok Dal ticket, and called for his defeat in the polls.
