The Chief Minister laid the first stone for the construction of the grand sanctum sanctorum at the site of Ram Janmabhoomi by performing rock worship rituals. On March 1, 1528, the central sanctum, where Ram Lalla was seated, was destroyed along with the grand Ram temple by the cannonballs of Mir Baqi. In 1859, some Nihang Sikhs succeeded in getting the Ramjanmabhoomi back for a few days, but even then Ramlala could not be established on their land. Amid miraculous events on the night of 22-23 December 1949, Ramlala appeared in the sanctum sanctorum, but the same building was synonymous with a blow to his identity, which was constructed to give the temple the appearance of a mosque.
After the demolition of the disputed building on December 6, 1992, Ramlala had to spend 27 years, three months, and 19 days without a permanent roof. On 25 March 2022, Ramlala got an alternate sanctum. According to the schedule, Ramlala may sit in the sanctum built at the original place till December 2023, but on Wednesday, with the start of construction of the grand sanctum sanctorum at the hands of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the joy of Ram devotees will be at the peak.
