SP leader Azam Khan, who reached the Supreme Court regarding Jauhar University, has gotten relief. The Supreme Court has stayed the condition of the Allahabad High Court regarding the bail of Azam Khan. A vacation bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Bela M Trivedi directed the DM of Rampur to take possession of the land belonging to Jauhar University. The Supreme Court also said that prima facie the condition of the Allahabad High Court seems inconsistent and like an order of the Civil Court.
The High Court, while granting interim bail to Azam Khan on May 10, had directed the District Magistrate of Rampur to take possession of the enemy property attached to the Jauhar University campus by June 30, 2022, and build a barbed-wire boundary wall around it. The court had said that on completion of the said exercise, Azam Khan's interim bail would be converted into regular bail.
A reply has also been sought from the Uttar Pradesh government on Azam Khan's plea challenging the bail condition imposed by the Allahabad High Court related to Jauhar University. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Khan, submitted that the District Magistrate Rampur has issued a notice ordering vacating the university buildings and is preparing to demolish them. The bench said that it is staying the conditions imposed by the high court and will hear the matter after leaving.
Earlier, Azam Khan had filed a petition claiming that due to this condition a part of Jauhar University would be demolished. In the last hearing, the advocate appearing for Khan had requested an immediate listing of the matter. He had said that the High Court has ordered the demolition of the university as a condition for interim bail, and now the district administration is preparing to implement the order.
The FIR registered against Azam alleged that a person named Imamuddin Qureshi had migrated to Pakistan during the partition and his land was registered as enemy property, but Khan in connivance with others occupied 13.842 hectares of land. have done.
