Hasina's press secretary Ehsanul Karim said the Bangladesh PM told Jaishankar that India's northeastern region would particularly benefit from using Bangladesh's southeast Chittagong port. The Bangladesh Prime Minister said that the initiative was taken to restart the cross-border routes between Bangladesh and India. This work was stopped during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.
